To felt a beautiful shawl or poncho is really a passion of mine..It still feels as if I am looking at the miracle of a butterfly getting out of it's cocoon when I enroll my wetfelted shawl and look how it became after the felting-process has taken place.
I found a combination of three techniques that I learned from three different sources..to come to original results. My curiosity started after I saw a woolfelted shawl that amazed me by it's beauty and softness and I said to myself, I want to learn this some day!! Later I found out that the combination of different textiles felted together is called nunofelting..

What I nowadays also like to do is to knit a base first and then felt it with silk, for example, but sometimes I use an already
existing (sometimes vintage) shawl as a base, but always of a natural source otherwise the felting won't work..Often I use parts of clothes or for example handmade chrocheted antique tableclothes..anything I can use to enhance the project!! People find them on some of the art-markets in Holland in summer..but also in my etsy shop... :-) There are also people who visit my home-gallery in IJmuiden and choose one there..

A lot of the new silk I use I bought in Vietnam (to keep my prices as low as possible) and I traveled there to make personal contacts to be able to do so..

Een shawl vilten is echt een passie van mij..Het voelt na jaren van vilten nog steeds alsof ik getuige ben van een soort wonder, zoals die waarbij een vlinder uit z'n cocon komt, als ik een shawl uitrol na het viltproces en alle wol die eerst nog los was opeens vast zit!! Door 3 technieken te combineren ben ik tot een vorm van het zogenaamde nuno-vilten gekomen die volgens mij tot toch wel unieke resultaten in mijn omslagdoeken heeft geleid..Mijn nieuwsgierigheid naar de vilttechniek begon nadat ik eens een prachtige shawl had gezien die met wol was gevilt....toen ik zelf allang aan het vilten was kwam ik er eigenlijk pas achter dat het combineren van verschillende lappen stof of zijde door ze met de wol te verbinden nuno-vilten genoemd wordt..

Mijn experimenten hebben zich uitgebreid naar het gebruiken van een zelfgebreide of gehaakte basisshawl, die dan vervolgens gevilt wordt.. Ik gebruik echter ook nog steeds wel vintage basisshawls als dat te pas komt, of zelfs antieke gehaakte tafelkleedjes, maar wel altijd van zo natuurlijk en zacht mogelijke materialen..omdat die de beste resultaten geven in het vilt-proces. Ze zijn dan natuurlijk ook het prettigst om te dragen..! Ze worden na droging en verdere bewerking, die soms met de punch-machine en soms met de hand plaatsvindt gevonden in mij huisgalerie en op kunstmarkten, en heel soms in mn etsy-shop, maar die krijgt vooral s'zomers weinig tijd om te groeien qua aanbod..:-) Maar u kunt ook mijn ArtRolinka facebookpagina of instagram-pagina in de gaten houden voor nieuw werk.

Een bezoek aan mijn thuis-galerie is ook mogelijk en in onderling overleg worden er ook bestellingen gedaan..of u kunt een ééndaagsworkshop volgen waarin ik u mijn geheimen persoonlijk onthul!!
